Meet our dedicated staff at The Cat Doctor and our affiliated organizations!  

Dr. Marielle Penyy

Dr. Penyy graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Following graduation, she completed a small animal medicine and surgical internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in 2011. Dr. Penyy joined Garden City Park Animal Hospital in 2012 after working at a veterinary general practice in Copiague. She will be heading up our newest location, The Cat Doctor.

Dr. Penyy is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and attends yearly continuing education conferences. She is an accredited veterinarian by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is able to assist clients with international travel documentation for their cat.

Prior to veterinary school, she was a licensed veterinary technician working in an emergency specialty hospital in Riverhead for five years. She spent many years in South America and is fluent in Spanish. Her professional interests include internal, emergency, and feline medicine. Dr. Penyy thoroughly enjoys her patients and clients, and her goal is to provide compassionate care and offer quality medicine for every patient.


Dr. Gary Dattner

Dr. Gary Dattner graduated from Cornell University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medicine Association, Long Island Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Dr. Dattner has completed continuing education courses and regularly attends the North American Veterinary Conference. He has a special interest in Bio Stem Cell Therapy and Orthopedics. Dr. Dattner enjoys spending time with his family, Melissa, Ryan and his yellow Labrador, Luxa! They enjoy skiing, fishing and traveling together.

Dr. Mara DiGrazia

Dr. Mara DiGrazia graduated from Cornell University in 1996. She completed a small animal medicine and surgical internship at Oradell AnimalHospital in 1997. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Association, and Long Island Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. DiGrazia has special interests in veterinary ultrasound and small animal ophthalmology. She was recently credited for supplying all Nassau County Fire Departments with animal oxygen masks through HELP Animals, Inc. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, her Schweenie, Comet and her cats, Batman and Robin. 


Carrie Sampongna – Office Manager 

Carrie Sampogna has been an administrative professional for over ten years. From 2006-2011 she worked as a receptionist at our sister hospital, Garden City Park Animal Hospital. Due to the passion she has for animals she decided to become involved again in the Veterinary field. We are happy that i Carrie is once again part of our team!  Carrie is also studying to become a certified massage therapist and will be studying to become a TCM practitioner. Her hopes are that once she is licensed she will be able to apply her degrees to animal medicine and consult on patient cases.
 

Sean Walcott- Technician

 Sean Walcott graduated from York College in Queens with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and is certified as an animal care specialist. He worked at the AMC and then he joined Garden City Park Animal Hospital in 2002 as kennel assistant. Over the years he advanced to a technician position. One of Sean’s many skills is his passive restraint and expert handling of pets. Sean is now the Head Technician at The Cat Doctor. He is dedicated to providing high quality and compassionate veterinary care.

 


Tim Frazer-Talan, LVT  

Tim Frazer-Talan has been working in the veterinary field for over 35 years and has been a licensed technician for 30 years. Tim has worked at the Animal Medical Center where he worked in area of emergency medicine. Tim has a special rapport with cats and enjoys working with all animals. He has many pets of his own   including 2 turtles that he has for over 35 years. Tim enjoys grooming, especially for pets with medical conditions. 

 


Cristina Santos- Customer Service

Cristina Santos is new to the veterinary field but absolutely loves all kinds of animals. Cristina is the receptionist at The Cat Doctor and enjoys interacting with clients and their adorable cats.

 

 


 

Chrissy Simpson- Customer Service

 Chirssy Simpson has over 25 years of experience as a veterinary customer service coordinator.  She is a devoted animal lover who holds a special place in her heart for geriatric pets and hospice cases.  Chrissy is very knowledgeable when it comes to accessing the concerns you may have of your pets over the phone, which is a great asset to our hospital.  While Chrissy is not at work, she has a personal interest in learning about crystals and their healing properties.
